Come and Enjoy a Donkey Paradise Safari Park Tour! Donkeys have been on the island of Bonaire since the year 1700 and worked as beasts of burden through 1950. After that year, people turned the donkeys loose into the wild, and since then they have roamed free on the island. Over the last few years, we have taken many of the wild donkey into our Donkey Sanctuary to prevent car accidents and abuse, and nowadays they live their lives in our Sanctuary where they can safely grow to be old, without danger from man. And donkeys can get to be over 40 years old! And now you can get a first-hand guided tour of our Donkey Paradise Safari Park in our new tour bus, pictured below!
The new tour bus accommodates 12 people, and is air-conditioned. Your tour guide is the founder of the Donkey Sanctuary, Marina Melis. While on the tour, you can meet our donkeys in person and feed them or pat them if you like! The complete tour takes between 1 1/2 and 2 hours, round trip from downtown Kralendijk (and the cruise ship pier). As part of the tour we drive you around and you can meet over 300 donkeys in their native island habitat, and also you can see the iguanas, land turtles, and a variety of birds - all in the Donkey Paradise Safari Park. We also have a nice souvenir shop, and beverages and restroom facilities are also available. Tickets for the complete tour, which include the entrance fee for the Donkey Sanctuary and Safari area, are US$20 per person, and can be purchased at the cruise ship pier.
